dustin pidborochynski

The Dustin Pidborochynski Memorial Fund has been established in memory of lifetime northerner and Journeyman Welder Dusty Pidborochynski, who passed away tragically on July 6, 2019, only weeks after being hired as a Welding Instructor at École St. Patrick High School in Yellowknife.

Dusty worked hard and played harder, he left no room for idle. He touched the hearts and impacted the lives of everyone who knew him. He was the salt of the earth and the light in the lives of those who loved him. Wise beyond his years, Dusty truly lived life to its fullest.

Dusty was thrilled to be joining the teaching team at École St. Patrick High School after many  years of honing his craft at the NWT’s diamond mines. He couldn’t wait to start sharing his experience and expertise with the next generation of northern trades professionals.

Dusty had already devoted himself to working with the young welding competitors at the 2019 Skills Canada NWT Territorial Competition, and had recently taken over the role of Volunteer Welding Technical Expert with Skills Canada NWT.

In honour of Dusty’s life and passion for the welding trade, the Pidborochynski family is accepting donations to the Dustin Pidborochynski Memorial Fund. All funds raised will support the Dustin Pidborochynski Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded annually to a student who has shown dedication to welding, and who has chosen to pursue a welding apprenticeship in the NWT. Additional funds raised will be donated to the welding program at École St. Patrick High School’s Kimberlite Trades and Technical Centre.
